About Youth Recreation Baseball/Softball

Recreational Youth Baseball and Softball primarily devotes itself to the enjoyment and development of athletes without the emphasis on high-level pressure to win. The purpose of our recreational programs is to provide an opportunity for the participants to have fun, play with a sense of team and community, learn the sport, and develop life skills including a life long love of the game.

Tremonton Recreation uses a five-level age appropriate format that grows with each young athlete.  Each level is tailored to meet athletes where they are in their playing ability, allowing them to reach their full potential.  Bypassing a level before the basic fundamental skills are learned affects growth in later levels.

Registration

Registration opens March 1st with the registration deadline May 2nd or until league is full.

  • Register as an Individual –  Teams are organized based on the number of players registered at Registration Deadline. Requests are simply a request and are never guaranteed. The only person who is guaranteed to be on the same team as your child is a sibling or siblings in the same league. Players are placed on teams based on their physical address and split as equal as possible depending on grade, gender and the number of coaches in their area. Participants who come off of the waiting list or have joined the league after teams are formed will be randomly assigned to a team which has an opening  In Prep leagues, players are split into teams as equal as possible by results of evaluations of each participant’s skill level preformed by the coaches at a player evaluation. It is important all players attend Player Evaluations to ensure teams are divided fairly! All players registered at the registration deadline will be on a team. All late registrations will be randomly placed on a team by the parks and recreation staff until the league is full.

Instructional Baseball

Tremonton Recreations instructional leagues focus on what is most important for our smallest athletes. With many programs focusing solely on winning, Tremonton Recreation focuses on teaching FUNdamentals of playing with others, having fun with a new sport, coordination, balance, hand eye coordination, confidence and just playing like a kid.

Anticipated Outcome: At the end of this program your child will increase his or her understanding of the game of baseball; increase confidence in playing ability; learn the importance of being a team player; and learn sportsmanship which will leave your child more willing to participate and play in the next session.

FUNdamental Baseball:

FUNdamental leagues are the first introduction kids have to a specific sport.  These leagues offer the experience of sports through fun activities.  Focus will be placed on free play while helping kids practice basic coordination through running around, jumping, and throwing.  Kids begin to learn how to develop social skills through the interaction with others.  No head-to-head organized competitive games will be played during the FUNdamental leagues.

Our pitching machine league is the perfect next step advancement in Baseball. We use the famous “Zooka” pitching machine that kids love to hit off of. Tremonton Recreation offers baseball leagues for our youngest players, helping build the confidence and foundation needed to move to the next level.

Anticipated Outcome: At the end of this program your child will increase his or her understanding of the game of baseball; increase confidence in playing ability; learn the importance of being a team player; and learn sportsmanship which will leave your child more willing to participate and play in the next session.

Developmental Baseball/Softball

In our recreational yet competitive leagues, athletes will apply the fundamentals of Baseball while also being introduced to and developing more advanced skills such as live pitching, base running and stealing, fielding and bunting.
