A library staff committee brainstormed six lists of possible library goals for community partnership/outreach, children’s services, teen services, adult/senior services, public relations/marketing, and technology, to be implemented in 2018- 2020. Each library board member placed a checkmark next to her favorite three goals in each category. Board Member Macfarlane, who participated via cell phone, will come to the library next week and identify her favorite goals. The library staff has also voted on their preferred goals. The top three goals in each category will be approved at the October Library Board Meeting.
6. Unfinished Business
a. Follow-up Report on Digital Sign
City Council Representative Doutre reported that City Manager Warnke said that the library could not have a digital sign, because it would detract from Tremonton City’s quaint atmosphere. City Council Representative Doutre is planning on bringing it up for discussion with the Tremonton City Council.
b. Discuss or Introduce and Vote on Candidates for Library Board
The Tremonton Library Board has two openings that need to be filled. One individual declined the request and opportunity to serve on the Tremonton Library Board. No volunteers have responded to the sign posted in the library. The library board suggested that volunteers be sought through the Tremonton Library Website and Facebook page. City Council Representative Doutre will arrange for a request for library board volunteers to be posted onto the Tremonton City Website. She will also ask if Corrine Atwood would be willing to serve on the board.
7. Board Reports
a. Library Director’s Report
In April, 31 individuals participated in the Dia Celebration. In May, 69 children searched for Star Wars images hidden around the library. In June, 129 children searched for flower images, and 12 adults attended the donut cooking class. The statistic log showed that 944 individuals attended the Summer Reading Kick-off Party, but this number is too high. Sign-ups completed before and after the party must have been included, and the party total needs to be corrected. In July, 115 children attended the Willow Park Zoo story hour, 20 teens enjoyed a water-fun activity, and 25 adults participated in a painting class.
