The Bear River Valley Library Consortium has been terminated, and each library will run independently. The Tremonton City Library will continue to provide the best service possible.

5. Unfinished Business

a. Open Meeting Training Reminder

Librarian-Secretary Jeppesen will email the Open Meeting Training link to four library board members who still need to complete it. It should only take about 15 minutes to complete.

b. Discuss Collection Development Policy

Director Griffiths will finalize the Collection Development Policy for the library board to approve at their next meeting.

c. Discuss 2027-2029 Strategic Goals

During the January board meeting, each board member identified three favorite goals in six areas: Community Partnerships/outreach, Children’s Services, Teen Services, Adult/Senior Services, Public Relations/Marketing, and Technology. The library staff also had an opportunity to choose three goals in each area. Director Griffiths will now identify the top five choices in each area and create a public survey, which will ask community members to identify three goals in each area that they would like to see the library implement. Kim will have the results typed up for the next board meeting to review. The library board will vote on it in October.

d. Discuss Storage Shed

The back half of the outdoor stage, behind the library, will be converted into a storage area for the library. Director Griffiths is hoping that it will be completed before our summer reading party in the park.

e. Discuss Summer Reading Party

The summer reading party is scheduled for May 29th, from 4:00-7:00. The theme is “Unearth a Good Story,” with a focus on Indiana Jones. Lead Librarian Parker shared lots of fun activities that have been planned. Board Member Garrett will be dressed as Indiana Jones and plans to extend invitations to Cosplay volunteers. Posters should be finalized next week. Librarian-Secretary Jeppesen will email volunteer reminders a couple of weeks before the party.

6. Board Reports

a. Library Director’s Report

The Tremonton Library will be adding a public AI program, so that patrons can try music, art, and writing AI options in a safe environment. Patrons will be able to save their work. The library is considering getting Storykin, which is a creative writing platform to help teens and adults learn how to write and publish their work. The library has a free trial of Storykin, which Director Griffiths will email to the board so that they can preview it and see what they think.
