Chairperson Becca Ashby called the Tremonton Library Board Meeting to order at 7:13 p.m. The meeting was held at the Tremonton City Library at 210 N. Tremont Street, Tremonton, Utah. Those in attendance were Tremonton Lead Librarian Kori Williams, Tremonton City Council Representative Beau Lewis, Tremonton Board Chairperson Becca Ashby, Tremonton Board Members Rick Jeppesen, Hayley Kearl, Megan Moyer, and Tremonton Librarian-Secretary Rebecca Jeppesen.

1. Welcome

Tremonton Chairperson Ashby opened the meeting.

2. Approval of Agenda

Nobody had any corrections, so the agenda was unanimously approved.

3. Approval of Minutes from January 15, 2025

Nobody had any corrections, so the minutes were unanimously approved.

4. New Business

a. Review 2024-2026 Goals and Objectives

Lead Librarian Williams reported on the completion of Tremonton Library goals for 2024, and gave updates on 2025 goals in six areas: Community Partnerships/Outreach, Children’s Services, Teen Services, Adult/Senior Services, Pubic Relations/Marketing, and Technology.

b. Approve Internet Policy

Motion by Tremonton Board Member Jeppesen to approve the Internet Policy. Board Member Kearl seconded the motion. Vote: Tremonton City Council Representative Beau Lewis – aye, Tremonton Board Chairperson Ashby – aye, Tremonton Board Member Jeppesen – aye, Tremonton Board Member Kearl – aye, Tremonton Board Member Moyer – aye. The motion carried.

c. Discuss Bear River Valley Consortium Circulation Policy

The Tremonton Library and Garland Library Records have been separated, but patrons from both libraries will still be able to check books out from each library. The Tremonton Library will be creating its own Circulation Policy, which will probably be the same as the consortium policy.

d. Discuss Summer Reading Party

The Mario Brothers Summer Reading Party is scheduled on May 30th in the park, from 4:00-6:00. The library will host lots of fun games and crafts. Board Member Garrett has volunteered to be the MC for the pinewood derby race. Free hot dogs and hamburgers will be available. The Factory Street Band will perform at 6:00. A Color Chalk War is scheduled for 7:00. The Super Mario Brothers movie will begin at 9:00. The Tremonton City Parks and Recreation is planning a decorated box cars contest.

5. Unfinished Business

a. Approve Open Meeting Policy

Motion by Tremonton Board Member Moyer to approve the Open Meeting Policy. Board Member Lewis seconded the motion. Vote: Tremonton City Council Representative Beau Lewis – aye, Tremonton Board Chairperson Ashby – aye, Tremonton Board Member Jeppesen – aye, Tremonton Board Member Kearl – aye, Tremonton Board Member Moyer – aye. The motion carried.

b. Approve Blood Pressure Cuff/Monitor Kit Policy

The name of the Blood Pressure Cuff/Monitor Policy needs to be changed to Telehealth Kits Policy and will be approved at the August Library Board Meeting.

c. Approve Interlibrary Loan Policy

Motion by Tremonton Board Member Kearl to approve the Interlibrary Loan Policy. Board Member Jeppesen seconded the motion. Vote: Tremonton City Council Representative Beau Lewis – aye, Tremonton Board Chairperson Ashby – aye, Tremonton Board Member Jeppesen – aye, Tremonton Board Member Kearl – aye, Tremonton Board Member Moyer – aye. The motion carried.

6. Board Reports

a. Library Director’s Report

In January, 14 tweens attended slime and Ooblek STEAM activities, 22 tweens made STEAM popsicle houses, 6 tweens participated in STEAM escape rooms, 40 children participated in a “You are Unique Snowflakes” activity, 100 children found Olaf snowman parts hidden around the library, 214 children and parents attended storytimes, 5 adults participated in a book club discussion on Zoom, and 40 adults made Take and Make candle holders.

In February, 11 tweens participated in a STEAM cupcake decorating activity, 12 children attended “Take Your Child to Library Day, 48 children searched for Pokémon and 82 children found valentines hidden around the library, 14 children read to Chewey (a therapy dog), 125 children and parents attended storytimes, 117 people made guesses for a Brandon Mull Dragon Egg Jar, 18 adults attended Creative Bug craft classes, 6 adults participated in a Zoom book club discussion, 25 adults enjoyed a Plus One Game and Dinner activity, and 40 adults made Take and Make Valentine cards.

In March, 13 tweens attended STEAM rock and geode activities, 13 participated in STEAM Pixel math and gravity activities, 15 tweens made STEAM paracord weaving crafts and Celtic knots, and 9 completed STEAM Pixel Mario and paper airplanes, 21 children read with Chewey, 35 participated in Mario Day activities, 160 found Seek and Find Shamrocks, 180 children and parents attended storytimes, and 13 adults attended Creative Bug craft classes.

d. Children’s Storytime and Craft on Fridays @ 10 a.m.
e. Children’s STEM Take’n Make Kits available on 2nd and 4th Saturdays
f. Adult Book Club with monthly book provided by library (Facebook)
g. Adult Book Club Discussion on first Tuesday of month @ 7:30 p.m. (ZOOM)
h. Mario Brothers Summer Reading Party on May 30 @ 4-6 in the park, followed by Factory Street Band, Chalk War, and Super Mario Brothers movie in the park
i. Adult Splat and Chat painting activity on May 3 (Senior Center)
j. USU Food and Fun Storytimes on May 28, June 4, 11, 18, 25, July 2 @ 10:00

9. Adjournment

Nobody had any other things to discuss, so the meeting was unanimously adjourned.
