Chairperson Lisa Unsworth called the Tremonton Library Board Meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was held at the Tremonton City Offices at 102 S. Tremont Street, Tremonton, Utah. Those in attendance were Library Director Kim Griffiths, Board Chairperson Lisa Unsworth, Vice Chairperson Becca Ashby, Board Secretary Alysia Chapman, Board Members Moroni Aguilar, Mike Garrett, Rick Jeppesen, Annette Macfarlane, and Tremonton Librarian-Secretary Rebecca Jeppesen.
1. Welcome
Chairperson Unsworth opened the meeting.
2. Approval of Agenda
Nobody had any questions, so the agenda was unanimously approved.
3. Approval of Minutes from January 25, 2023
Nobody had any corrections, so the minutes were unanimously approved.
4. Public comments: This is an opportunity to address the Library Board regarding your concerns or ideas. Please limit your comments to three minutes.
There were no public comments.
5. New Business
a. Introduce New Library Board Member, Mike Garrett
Mike Garrett shared some interesting facts about himself.
b. Discuss Meeting Room Policy
Director Griffiths explained that the Tremonton Library is using technology grant money to purchase a 3D printer and Cricut maker, which will be available for public use in the library’s small meeting room. She is hoping to get a second technology grant for purchasing sound equipment which can be used to create podcasts. Griffiths asked the board members to review sample Makerspace Policies from five different libraries, highlight items that they would like to include in a Makerspace Policy, and drop them off at the library for her to use as she creates a policy for the Tremonton City Library. Griffiths will have a Makerspace Policy draft ready for the next board meeting.
6. Unfinished Business
a. Approve Bear River Valley Consortium Circulation Policy
Motion by Board Member Macfarlane to approve the Bear River Valley Consortium Circulation Policy. Board Secretary Chapman seconded the motion. Vote: Chairperson Unsworth – aye, Vice Chairperson Ashby – aye, Secretary Chapman – aye, Board Member Aguilar – aye, Board Member Garrett – aye, Board Member Jeppesen – aye, Board Member Macfarlane – aye. The motion carried.
b. Discuss Strategic Plan for 2024-2026
Director Griffiths presented posters with staff goal ideas for Community Partnerships, Children’s Services, Teen Services, Adult/Senior Services, Public Relations, and Technology. Board members added their suggestions.
c. Discuss Summer Reading Party
Director Griffiths summarized planned activities for the June 2, 2023 Summer Reading Party. Activities will take place between 4 – 6 p.m. and will be followed by a puppet show. Board Secretary Chapman volunteered for her church to host an ax throwing game, Board Member Macfarlane has access to character stand-ups with face holes for photos, and Board Member Garrett knows some authors who might want to attend. Volunteers may help set up for the party at 1 p.m.
7. Board Reports
a. Library Director’s Report
In January, 9 children participated in a month-long coding club, 77 children searched for Olaf snowmen around the library, and 72 children and parents attended a Fairy Tea Party.
In February, 69 children searched for conversation hearts around the library, 27 children attended a Dr. Seuss Birthday Activity, 74 children decorated a door with kisses, and 42 children and parents attended a Super Hero Party.
In March, 88 children participated in a Places You’ll Go door activity, 110 children found shamrocks around the library, and 117 children searched for Easter eggs.
In April, 10 adults attended a seven-week photo class, and 24 adults made lotus flower paper lanterns.
For the winter reading challenge, 62 children participated, 6 teens signed up, 30 adults participated, and 24 adults completed the Creative Bug challenge.

9. Adjournment
Nobody had any other things to discuss, so the meeting was unanimously adjourned.
