As the governing body of Tremonton City, the City Council determines the needs to be addressed and the degree of service to be provided by the administrative branch of the City government.
The Mayor presides over meetings of the Council and serves as the ceremonial head of government. The Mayor does not have the power to veto Council action. In the absence or disability of the Mayor, the Mayor Tempore performs the mayoral duties.

City Council Meetings
The Tremonton City Council welcomes public input on matters of concern to the community.
CITY COUNCIL CALENDAR
Tremonton City Council meets on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month.
AGENDAS & MINUTES
Review upcoming and archived meeting agendas, and minutes; and check the calendar schedules for City Council meetings and work sessions.
SPEAK AT A MEETING
- To speak at a meeting, check the agenda to ensure the meeting has a time for Public Comment. If the meeting will include an opportunity for public comment, it will be noted near the top of the agenda.
- All those wishing to present at a meeting, must register and request in advance to be added to the agenda. Complete a presenters form by at least the Thursday ahead or at the meeting before speaking (form currently under review)

Guidelines for Public Comment
- When speaking at a public meeting, please follow the Guidelines for Civic Discourse.
- The public may speak on any item noticed as a public hearing.
- The public may speak on matters which are not on the agenda during the Public Comment Period at City Council meetings.
- No speaker will be allowed more than three minutes of public comment time unless requested and granted in advance by the Mayor.
- Public Comment Period is allotted 30 minutes, Any speakers not called during the public comment period will have the option to speak at the conclusion of the meeting, after all agenda items have been heard.
Guidelines for Public Discourse
Members of the Tremonton community, its elected officials and City staff place a high value on constructive and thoughtful debate on public issues. To this end, all who participate in meetings in the Chamber, including public officials, staff and members of the community, are expected to observe the following guidelines.
- Treat Everyone with Respect and Courtesy
- Do Your Homework – Be Prepared and Be Familiar with the Agenda
- Express Your Ideas and Opinions in an Open and Helpful Manner
- Be Respectful of Others’ Time by Being Clear and Concise in Your Comments and/or Questions
- Demonstrate Honesty and Integrity in Your Comments and Actions
- Focus on the Issues Before the Decision Making Body – Avoid Personalizing Issues
- Listen and Let Others Express their Ideas and Opinions
- If a Decision is Made with which You Do Not Concur, Agree to Disagree and/or Use Appropriate Means of Civil and Civic recourse, and Move On.
