Supporting One Another Through Uncertain Times
Mayor’s Message November 2025
Lyle Holmgren
With the recent federal government shutdown, many in our community may be feeling added stress—especially those whose paychecks are temporarily affected by it or who rely on SNAP benefits. Times like these remind us of the importance of looking out for one another and ensuring that no one in Tremonton goes without their basic needs.
At some point, most of us face moments when we need a hand. Accepting support from others is part of what makes a strong, caring community—and I’m proud that Tremonton is a place where neighbors take care of one another.
If you or someone you know is facing temporary hardship, please remember that help is available right here in Tremonton. The Tremonton Food Pantry continues to provide food and essential items to individuals and families in need. They work tirelessly to make sure everyone is treated with kindness, respect, and compassion.
I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the Tremonton Food Pantry Director, Carey Hunsaker, her dedicated staff, and the many volunteers who generously give their time and energy to ensure that families and individuals are cared for. Their quiet service and commitment reflect the very best of Tremonton’s community spirit.
Because the need has increased, those who are able are encouraged to donate food, household goods, personal care items, or financial support to help keep the pantry shelves stocked. In-kind and financial donations are always welcome, and every contribution—whether large or small—makes a meaningful difference.
The Food Pantry is especially in need of holiday food items such as canned fruit, cake mixes, cranberries, pumpkin mix, and stuffing. Ongoing needs include canned soups, cooking oil, tuna helper, pancake mixes, jams and jellies, salad dressings, potatoes, and more.
A heartfelt thank you to the North and South Box Elder Farm Bureaus for their generous donation of over 4,000 pounds of meat to the Tremonton and Brigham City Food Pantries. This remarkable contribution—made possible through many generous donations during the celebration of the Box Elder County Fair’s 100th anniversary—will support many families and exemplifies the spirit of giving that defines our community.
I also want to recognize and thank the many individuals, churches, neighborhoods, businesses, and organizations that have generously supported the Tremonton Food Pantry over the years. Your continued kindness strengthens our community and reminds us that when challenges arise, we meet them together.
The Tremonton Food Pantry is located at 180 South Tremont St., Tremonton. It is open on Mondays and Tuesdays from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. You can reach them at 435-257-9530.
Together, we can ensure that everyone in our community feels supported and cared for during this uncertain time. Thank you to all who continue to give, serve, and uplift others—your compassion strengthens the very heart of Tremonton.
