Tremonton City Hay Days: Celebrating Our Roots and Community
Mayors Message – Lyle Holmgren
July 2025
As this summer unfolds, we’re preparing for one of Tremonton’s most treasured traditions—Hay Days at Jeanie Stevens Park, scheduled for Friday, July 25, through Saturday, July 26, 2025. This event honors our agricultural heritage and continues a longstanding tradition of community, family, and hometown pride.
Founded in 1903 by a group of German farmers and others drawn to the valley for its fertile soil and plentiful irrigation water, Tremonton and the surrounding farmland have long been shaped by wheat, corn, livestock, produce—and, of course, hay. Hay Days celebrates this heritage by highlighting the vital role agriculture plays in our city’s identity.
On Monday, July 21, uncover the mystery, follow the clues, and chase the legend in this epic community treasure hunt across the beautiful Bear River Valley! “The Legend of John Shuman” invites adventurers of all ages to solve riddles, explore local landmarks, and piece together the story of a long-lost treasure hidden deep in Northern Utah. Gather your team, embrace the adventure, and see if you have what it takes to discover the truth behind the legend!
On Friday, July 25 (starting at 4 pm), get ready for a weekend full of fun. Enjoy bounce houses, a roping contest, games, a baby contest, a diaper derby, and local vendors. Step up to the plate and swing for the fences at the Hay Days Home Run Derby! Families can gather for a community fundraiser dinner (all proceeds go to Tremonton’s Food Pantry), followed by a special ventriloquist show and a “Movie in the Park” to kick off the weekend under the stars.
Saturday, July 26 (all day), begins with a 5K run in the morning, followed by the Tremonton City Council and Staff’s pancake breakfast (free of charge), and a volleyball tournament. Throughout the day, enjoy sporting events, an incredible classic car show, family-friendly activities, food trucks, and entertainers. A Guns and Hoses softball game will feature our police and firefighters competing for an unforgettable—and fun—experience!
Beat the Heat. Get ready to cool off and have a blast while you dance through mountains of bubbles, then gear up for an epic splash battle as local firefighters bring out the hoses for some good old-fashioned water fun. It’s a perfect way for kids (and kids at heart) to beat the heat and make unforgettable memories. The day ends with a spectacular fireworks display, celebrating our community spirit.
What does Hay Days mean to me? This celebration reflects what I value most as your mayor: families, community unity, volunteer spirit, and small-town charm. It reminds us of how far we’ve come and how deeply our roots are planted. Hay Days isn’t just an event—it’s a living tribute to the founding families, hard work, traditions, and shared values that continue to define Tremonton.
Join the celebration! I encourage every family, neighbor, and newcomer to participate! Whether you run the 5K, bounce with the kids, cheer for local athletes, enjoy delicious food, fireworks, or simply take a walk and relax, there’s something for everyone.
To the volunteers, local businesses, and city staff who selflessly donate their time—thank you! You are the heartbeat of Hay Days. I invite all Tremonton residents to come together, celebrate our past and future, and create memories that honor who we are.
