He was 1st Lt. In the U.S. Air Force 49th Fighter- Bomber Group.  While flying over Korea in an F-84, his plane was hit by anti-aircraft fire from the ground.  He bailed out and landed in the ocean where the water temperature was 34 degrees.  His wing man from Perry, Utah, Lt. Lemon witnessed this as he disappeared in the ocean in 3 minutes.
