Tremonton City sincerely appreciates all of the inquiries it has received from community members wanting to provide financial assistance to the Sorensen and Estrada families.  While not associated with Tremonton City, City Officials have been made aware that the Utah Fraternal Order of Police Foundation is taking donations on behalf of the Sorensen and Estrada families.  Any wishing to donate can reach out directly to the Utah Fraternal Order of Police Foundation to inquire about charitable opportunities.

Sgt. Lee Sorensen

Sgt. Lee Sorensen

Sergeant Lee Sorensen was tragically killed in the line of duty on Sunday, August 18, 2025. He was 56 years old at the time of his passing. He is survived by his wife, Lanette, and their children. 

 

Lee Sorensen has 17 years of experience as a law enforcement officer, 16 of which were at the Garland Police Department. He was recently promoted to Sergeant and planned to be sworn into his new role on Friday, August 22.

 

Sergeant Sorensen was awarded the Distinguished Service Award by the Tremonton Fire Department in February of this year for his dedication, support, professionalism, and commitment to excellence in assisting fire and EMS units during incidents.

 

Sergeant Sorensen and his wife received Garland City’s Wheelon Award in 2020, which recognizes individuals who have significantly impacted the city.

Ofc. Eric Estrada

Ofc. Eric Estrada

Officer Eric Estrada was tragically killed in the line of duty on Sunday, August 18, 2025. He was 31 years old at the time of his passing. He is survived by his wife, Brittney, and their two children, Cienna and Luka.

 

Eric began his career in law enforcement in 2017 with the Logan Police Department. He then joined the Box Elder County Sheriff’s Office, where he first served in the jail. Afterward, he worked as a patrol officer and detective at the North Park Police Department before returning to the Box Elder County Sheriff’s Office to work again in the jail. Earlier this year, Officer Estrada joined the Tremonton Police Department, where he served as a line officer and a member of the community outreach team.

 

He was a dedicated father and husband, deeply loving and cherishing his family. He also enjoyed CrossFit, and his favorite role in law enforcement was being on patrol, where he loved interacting with people and engaging with the community.
